Plus, Little Palmetto Pearl brings The Beaufort Bonnet Company to Mount Pleasant

Mildred Newberry gift shop on Broad Street offers whimsical home decor and other accessories.

Now Open

Florida native Anne Liebergall, a Fashion Institute of Technology alum and former assistant to Michael Kors and Vince Camuto, realized her dream of opening her own retail store in November when she debuted the retro-inspired Mildred Newberry gift shop on Broad Street. The store, named after her grandmother, offers a curated selection of greeting cards, paper goods, jewelry, home decor, and hostess gifts from small makers, including Gold Teeth Brooklyn, Ladyfingers Letterpress, Camp Craft Cocktails, and Meghan MacWhirter jewelry. A ”Meet me at Mildred’s” script sign over a vintage pay phone on the wall sets the vibe, where Liebergall says she hopes shoppers find “the type of gift you want to give a friend that makes you smile or laugh out loud.” [27 Broad St., mildrednewberry.com]

Southern Prep

Find a baby shower gift or timeless clothing for your little one at Little Palmetto Pearl, The Beaufort Bonnet Company’s fourth signature store, which opened in Mount Pleasant Towne Centre late last year. Beaufort Bonnet Company, founded in 2012 in Lexington, Kentucky, was inspired by a baby bonnet gifted to the founder from a friend who lived in the Lowcountry. Think swaddles with gingham bows, smocked greeting gowns, corduroy Jon Jons, plaid jumpers, Peter Pan collar shirts, and Mary Jane shoes. The brand is owned by the umbrella company that includes popular Southern-influenced brands Lily Pulitzer, Tommy Bahama, and Southern Tide. [1601 Palmetto Grande Dr., thebeaufortbonnetcompany.com]
