Get Personal

An all-new shopping experience arrived in town last month when the long-awaited Trunk Club opened in the Cigar Factory. Started as a personal styling service shipping high-end duds to men’s doorsteps, the enterprise has since expanded to womenswear and begun establishing ”Clubhouses” in cities across the country. In Chicago, Dallas, D.C., L.A., New York, and now Charleston, members can visit their stylists in a luxe setting, sipping drinks from the bar while viewing pieces from designers such as Vince, Theory, Joie, and Equipment. Guys can also be fitted for custom-tailored casual and business wear. [701 E. Bay St., Ste. 108; trunkclub.com]

Landmark Cases

Who knew the Sullivan’s Island Lighthouse, Marion Square, and Rainbow Row could look so chic? Local clothing designer Emily Papuga recently launched her Suite 33 pillows (shown above) featuring patterns that depict Charleston landmarks stripped down to their most basic lines for designs that are modern and fresh. In historically inspired colorways, the organic cotton- and linen-blend covers come with feather inserts. Papuga has already added outdoor cushions, place settings, and more to her collection, available online and at a variety of local shops. [shopsuite33.com]

Inside Trading

Don’t commit to a new dining table or sideboard, bookcase or media cabinet without checking out John’s Island arrival Old Charleston Trading. ”The majority of our furniture is handcrafted and directly imported from India,” explains co-owner Warren Redman-Gress. ”We focus on reclaimed and sustainable wood pieces, but our aesthetic mixes coastal and casual with some industrial influence.” Plenty of complementary accessories fill the 4,500-square-foot retail space, too.
