Pillar of Style

While much of Charleston is a-changin’, this institution remains, and more stylish than ever. RTW, an independent boutique offering designer jewelry, accessories, handbags, shoes, and formal wear, celebrates its 40th anniversary this fall. Having catering to trendsetting locals since 1978, owner Janyce McMenamin has much to celebrate, and a cocktail party, open to the public on October 27 at 6 p.m., invites shoppers to join in the festivities. The event promises toasts from designers—including Peter Cohen, Georgina von Etzdorf, and Alejandro Alonso Rojas—champagne, and hors d’oeuvres, as well as a curated exhibition of 40 looks worn by notable RTW clients throughout the years, which will remain on display in the shop’s historic three-story building.
