Frank’s Gentlemen’s Salon brings a full-service barbershop to Shelmore Boulevard.

Outside In

Boating and fishing season has arrived, and that means it’s time to stock up on outdoor gear. Fortunately, two sports retailers have entered the local market. Last month, Austin, Texas-based YETI—maker of colorful, signature vacuum-sealed ice chests—opened a store at 360 King Street. The drinkware and outdoor accessories business signed a 10-year lease and plans to feature live entertainment along with food, beer, and wine demonstrations and workshops. Nearby, high-end sporting goods store Orvis recently opened at 535 King St. It’s the third South Carolina outpost for the 161-year-old brand offering men’s and women’s sportswear, gifts, home furnishings, luggage, travel accessories, and dog products. Moving on Up

The city’s best shopping district is ever-evolving, and that’s true for old and new retailers. For instance, Luna, the women’s clothing boutique, has been selling the latest trends at its King Street location for over a decade. Now it’s taking over the former Seeking Indigo space. Meanwhile, national retailer UNTUCKit also recently joined the neighborhood with its line of clothing for men, women, and boys. The store was founded in 2000 with a mission to give men shirts that look good untucked. Charleston’s branch is the 51st UNTUCKit location. [445 King St., shopluna.com; 290 King St., untuckit.com]

Pajama Party

Want your tots to look just as darling in their sleepwear as in their play clothes? Look no further than Savannah-based brand Lake Pajamas, which opened its first downtown store in December. The kids line of jammies—which debuted in June and come in shorts, long sleeves, and Mommy and Me matching sets—are sold in this bright retail space. [153 King St., lakepajamas.com]

Close Shave

Dapper gents are in luck: an old-school style barber shop has arrived in Mount Pleasant. Frank’s Gentlemen’s Salon offers haircuts, precise straight razor-shaves, and an array of spa services in a mid-century inspired space. In addition, the barbershop caters to groomsmen who can rent out the entire salon for pre-wedding pampering. [353 N. Shelmore Blvd., Suite 110, Mount Pleasant, frankssalon.com]
