Atlanta-based designer Abbey Glass has expanded to Charleston, opening her eponymous boutique on King Street in late April. Founded in 2015, the brand is known for incorporating classic tailoring and custom fabrics and prints into its timeless, occasion-ready dresses and tops. Glass recently introduced her first bridal capsule, featuring all-white ensembles. The shop joins Hill House Home, Loeffler Randall, and Minnow in bringing new retail options to the block of King between Queen and Broad streets. [127 King St., abbey-glass.com]
New Jewels
Local jewelry designer Laura Cohen has debuted Little Bird on Queen Street, offering a collection of dainty necklaces and earrings, with some pieces named after area landmarks such as “Kiawah” and “Society Street.” The former accountant says she is inspired by her time spent living in Colorado, travels to tropical destinations, and Charleston’s beaches. Her minimalistic jewelry features carefully curated stones—including moonstones, turquoise, rose quartz, and pearls—many of which are believed to offer mood-boosting properties. Look for Cohen to hold classes, workshops, parties, and pop-ups with other local makers in the first floor of the Charleston single, just behind the Preservation Society of Charleston Shop. Shipshape Shop
Longtime Sullivan’s Island boutique Goldbug now has a “big sister shop,” Ship of Fools, on Ben Sawyer Boulevard in Mount Pleasant. There, owner Ashley Reid Martin offers an eclectic assortment of resort wear and accessories in the new 1,100-square-foot space, which she says has a “moodier vibe” than Goldbug and carries a broader selection of smaller scale brands that align with her slow-fashion values. Martin’s collection of handmade jewelry will only be available at the Sullivan’s Island boutique.
