Congrats to Live 5 News, our CBS affiliate
With the words “Channel 5 is now alive,” broadcaster Charlie Hall signed WCSC-TV on air for the first time on June 19, 1953. The oldest continuously broadcasting television station in the state, Channel 5 relocated from its original location on East Bay Street to its current facilities in West Ashley in December 1997, naming the street Charlie Hall Boulevard after the trusted chief weatherman that guided Charleston through the deadly threat of Hurricane Hugo. Since then, the CBS affiliate, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this month, has continued to produce local news and sports stories, holding a trusted spot in the living rooms of Lowcountry viewers.
