We caught up with the founder and CEO of Alesya Bags, who recently redesigned her signature laptop satchel and debuted a clutch, wallet, and card case

Q Who is the Alesya Bags customer?
A
An ambitious woman who’s likely in a client- or public-facing role; her month includes business travel through airports. She’s also the person you go to for recommendations on the latest restaurants or who’s making the best shoes. And just like so many Charleston women, she enjoys a stiff drink.

Q Tell us about the new collection.
A
It’s a reflection of clients’ feedback on the three previous collections, my ideas on what will help women succeed at work, and a deep desire to have the products made in the U.S.—my factory is in Massachusetts.

Q Favorite winter wardrobe item?
A
My Burberry trench—I’ve been eyeing it since I was about seven. I vividly remember my father giving one to my mother and seeing how happy she was. Last Christmas, my husband gave me one, and there was a lot of sentimental emotion wrapped up in the gift.

Q What’s your makeup must-have?
A
NARS blush in ”Deep Throat”—it always makes me feel happier and more alive.

Q Describe your personal style.
A
Minimalist for work wear, and classic American for more casual occasions. During this season of my life, I want to spend all my energy making smart business decisions and great choices for my family. I wear what makes me feel most like myself and move on to more pressing matters.
