The Party: The much-anticipated Big Chef Little Chef, an annual dinner party supporting Louie's Kids, a local organization fighting childhood obesity founded by Louis Yuhasz, dazzled this year at the Long Room in McCrady's Tavern. To prepare for the event, four renowned Charleston chefs were paired with kids ages 10 through 16, teaching them over the course of several weeks how to cook healthy meals that were as delicious as they were nourishing. Little Chef Big Chef was the culmination of their efforts: the chef-and-protégé teams each served a tasty and creative course to the attendees, including a grilled corn, peach, and burrata dish from Husk's Travis Grimes and Robert; scallop ceviche from Charleston Grill's Michelle Weaver and Katie; roasted chicken with carrots and granola from FIG's Jason Stanhope and Josh; and non-fat yogurt semi-freddo from McCrady's Katie Keefe and Katie. Throughout the meal, the knowledgable "little chefs" mingled among the elegant tables, explaining the fresh ingredients inside each dish and the steps they took to prepare it, to the delight of the diners.
