The Party: Before movin’ and shakin’ to the exuberant sounds of Charlton Singleton, Quiana Parler, and the Charleston Jazz Orchestra, Charleston Magazine Club members enjoyed a cocktail hour at the Charleston Music Hall prior to Piccolo Spoleto event, “Let's Groove”: The Music of Earth, Wind & Fire. Club members partook in the evening’s specialty cocktail, “Boogie Juice,” and a few delectable treats before heading into the venue for an all-out tribute to one of the grooviest groups of the ’70s. Singleton, Parler, and the CJO brought their signature style and exquisite musicianship to the stage for an unforgettable evening filled with classic, get-up-and-dance tunes and plenty of nostalgia.
The Highlight: Quiana Parler’s showstopping vocals leading the band in renditions of “September,” “Shining Star,” and more.
Overheard: “This music really takes me back! But thank goodness we all have better haircuts now!”
