The Party: Hosted by Mickey Bakst of Charleston Grill and Indigo Road partners Steve Palmer and Jeremiah Bacon, the third annual Dining for a Cause benefit was an evening to remember. Featuring cuisine by many of the culinary scene’s biggest names, the Cedar Room event treated guests to a four-course meal with menus varying by neighborhood (for example, attendees seated in the Radcliffeborough section indulged in plates by Ben Barryhill of Red Drum, Bob Cook of Edmund’s Oast, Ken Vedrinski of Trattoria Lucca, and Robert Stehling of Hominy Grill). The much anticipated soiree also featured live music and a silent auction, as well as a live auction hosted by local auctioneer Tom Crawford. All proceeds were given directly to Charleston’s branch of Feed the Need, an organization that, in an effort to eliminate some of the economic burden faced by area soup kitchens and shelters, serves approximately 500 meals to local individuals per week through various outlets including Tri-County Family Ministries, Neighborhood House, and One80 Place.
The Highlight: Impassioned words from Steve Palmer and Mickey Bakst regarding the impact of guests’ contributions on eliminating hunger in the Lowcountry
Overheard: “All I can say is Mickey has really outdone himself this year!”
Beneficiary: Feed the Need
