The Party: Enthusiasm was in the air during the Center for Birds of Prey’s largest annual fundraising effort.Volunteers greeted each arriving guest with a hawk, owl, vulture, kite, or kestrel on their arms, offering close encounters with the birds while caterers weaved through with hors d’oeuvres such as bacon-wrapped stuffed dates, bite-sized tomato pies, and spinach tarts. Guests perused the silent auction items which included avian-inspired art, gift certificates to Charleston’s best restaurants and stores, and more before moving toward the buffet for the likes of chicken and waffles and smoked salmon. To everyone’s delight, a soaring flight demonstration took place during the meal.
