1993: Charleston County funds an economic development department. Conde Nast Traveler first names Charleston a Top 10 US destination
1994: Keith Summey elected North Charleston mayor, led the city for decades through the Naval Base closure and revitalization efforts, including Park Circle and Riverfront Park.
