When the swanky dining room at Charleston Grill reopened in October, a new GM was at the front-of-house helm. Meet F&B pro Julie Hennigan, who was hand-selected by her legendary predecessor, Mickey Bakst, and get her perspective on the future of fine dining.
Charleston Grill reopened last October with Hennigan as general manager
A Leg Up: “Yogalicious makes the best running pants, all with pockets. I can slide my phone in my pocket, pop in my earbuds, and take off on a trail or down the beach.”
Across the Board: “I’m a total nerd, and I do crosswords every morning while I drink my coffee. My dad e-mails me The New York Times puzzle each day.”
Page Turner: “I’m an avid reader. Right now, I’m working through Malcolm Gladwell’s collection of short stories, Talking to Strangers. I also really like historical writers David McCullough and Kristin Hannah.”
Fossil Finds: “I love to hunt for sharks’ teeth, and I’ve found some really cool ones. None from a Megalodon, but I have found some from sharks that are now extinct.”
Restaurant Runner: “I’m a huge fan of Converse All-Stars. When I worked at The Macintosh, I would wear Chucks with my dress until it was time for service and then I’d put on my fancy shoes.”
