Wash with Water launched Sun Hero sunscreen in recycled plastic packaging last summer
The Wash with Water founder, mother of three, and environmentalist started her line of plant-based personal care products for children and their mamas more than 10 years ago. And last summer, Pascarella introduced a 100-percent non-nano zinc sunscreen and after-sun lotion, both in proprietary Oceanrescue recycled plastic packaging as part of the her commitment to keep waste out of waterways. Look for the brand to host a beach cleanup on World Ocean Day (June 8) at Breach Inlet on Isle of Palms. Here, Pascarella shares what she carries in her beach bag
Q What’s your favorite summer activity in Charleston, and what do you wear?
A After living at the beach for so long, I have finally started taking surf lessons with my trainer, Elliott Dye. I keep it simple for my beach gear—Sun Hero sunscreen, Rainbow flip-flops, and L Space suit.
Q How do you protect yourself from the sun on a beach or pool day?
A I am an advocate of daily sun protection with Sun Hero mineral sunscreen SPF 30 (nontoxic and on Environmental Working Group’s 2023 guide), plus huge sunnies from Quay. I love Eugenia Kim visors (above).
Q Do you have any favorite local designers or stores?
A You will always find me getting lost among the beautiful treasures at Katie Poole’s thoughtfully curated shop, Bennie + Coco on Sullivan’s. Antik Batik (blouse) is one of my favorites from her boutique.
Q What’s in your real or virtual shopping cart that you hope to purchase soon?
A I just returned from Miami with my sister, Bina, and borrowed her YSL clutch and now need one of my own! Plus, I have heart eyes for Le Monde Béryl rope leather sandals.
Q What beach bag do you carry, and what’s in it?
A I am studying to become a board-certified health and wellness coach, so this summer I have my Clare V. beach bag (above) stuffed with study modules, mixed nuts, Wash with Water “Radiant Balm,” a Pucci scarf, Crown Affair hair brush, and Polaroid camera.
Q Do you have a signature accessory?
A My dear friend Harriet from Casuarina is my go-to jewelry designer. I have many piercings, so I love her delicate earrings. My current crush is a gold and rose quartz mushroom from her new collection (above).
