The Moscow Ballet transports audiences into the dazzling fairy tale world of The Great Russian Nutcracker

You’ve seen The Nutcracker, but chances are, you’ve never seen the holiday classic as performed by the renowned Moscow Ballet. The company debuted in 1993 with an all-star Russian cast that was soon traveling to cities throughout the United States and Canada. Now directed by ballet master Vladimir Troschenko, The Great Russian Nutcracker creates a fantasy world of hand-painted backdrops and life-size puppets that twirl onstage alongside dancers in elaborate costumes.

With the world’s prima ballerina, Cristina Terentieva, starring in this year’s performance alongside her partner and husband, Alexei, now’s the perfect time to catch the Sugar Plum Fairy, Masha, and the Nutcracker Prince in all their magical glory.

North Charleston Performing Arts Center, 5001 Coliseum Dr., North Charleston. Wednesday, 8pm. $100-$28.50. (843)529-5000, www.coliseumpac.com
