Interior designer Julie Vacarro creates custom home goods.

Whether custom-printing fabric for an entire home on Isle of Palms or designing cloth patterned with people’s pets, Julie Vacarro loves a creative job.

When the longtime local seamstress and interior designer saw the digital market explode in 2019, she began printing fabrics in her Mount Pleasant shop, JV Custom Interiors. Last September, she launched her newest endeavor, 3L Collective, out of the same space, working with clients to color match or create custom items for their homes, such as window shades, drapery, pillows, bedding, and upholstery, using digital textile printing. Customers can browse swatches online and see them in-person with curbside delivery or by appointment, or request original projects. “A lot of these houses have unusual nooks and crannies and need a professional eye,” she says.

Earlier this year, 3L Collective collaborated with Julia Deckman Studio, Dyeshappy, Brittany Garber and Coral Berry Cottage to release new collections and showcase a growing product range of fabrics, pillows, ottomans, drapery, and towels. “Moving forward, we’d love to diversify our line with a variety of local artists’ work on different materials,” Vacarro says. “There’s so many creative people out there whose work translates well to what I’m doing.”

Starting in late spring, Vacarro will be hosting a monthly open house and expanding her interior and drapery consulting services.
