Local drummer Brandon Brooks boosts the local music scene with Jyve
Jyve founder Brandon Brooks is a drummer who performs around town.
When assigned to pitch an entrepreneurial idea in his College of Charleston business class, drummer Brandon Brooks asked himself, ”What is the most difficult aspect of being a musician?” The answer, hands down, was ”booking gigs.” His A+ solution? An app that connects music scenes, helping artists find work and venues find talent.
Now three months old, Jyve boasts some 500 users in six countries and 90 cities. Through the app, venues and musicians alike create profiles; the latter can submit requests to play at the former. In addition to browsing artists, music fans can view a schedule of shows coming up in their area.
”I look forward to being the go-to app for discovering and booking live, local music,” says Brooks. And considering Jyve’s recent selection for The Harbor Startup Business Accelerator and invitation to participate in tech conference Collision, held in New Orleans during Jazz Fest, he’s off to an impressive start.
